General dev role working on tasks/bugs as needed. Some clients I have more autonomy as to what I work on but some larger projects are a bit more rigid with scrum/lead assigning what to be worked on. Many interesting challenges to work through each day, generally enjoy what I'm doing when not blocked by external factors.

Pros and cons of working at Empired Ltd

Pros

  • Get to try out vastly different projects fairly regularly. Won't get stuck on one language/tech stack.

  • The breadth of tasks that I am exposed to and able to have a say in what I complete. I'm able to partake in activities that I enjoy with a diverse and friendly team. I'm able to form personal and professional relationships easily within my team and Empired.

  • Flexible working arrangements, great and friendly staff, great team dynamic.

  • Get to work on a variety of different projects at different clients. I think its a very good way to quickly understand the industry and in tern figure out what you value at the work place versus just working at one company for a few years.

  • As a Grad, it's hard to be trusted to work autonomously, however Empired have trusted and encouraged me to get client facing fast and independently. On top of having faith in my capabilities and offering the opportunity to prove myself, the working environment has been flexible and allowed me to maintain a great work life balance.

Cons

    • We are dependent on the projects available in our space, so we are placed in different roles instead (i.e. support roles instead of project roles). This time frame is for an extended period of time.

    • Short projects. More work than people. Understaffed projects.

    • Often the teams you work with change quite dramatically, would be nicer if there was some consistency to some team members where possible.

    • Not everyone will be a fan of hot-desking, whilst it isn't a negative for myself, but some may not enjoy it as much.
