The rotation based grad program is an excellent, structured way to experience different parts of the business but within the individual rotations there is no set structure, so the experience can vary significantly. I have no specific role or set day to day responsibilities, and the projects I've been tasked with were to solve some basic but important, long standing problems that have never been addressed for one reason or another. The finnicky, manual, time consuming work had little to do with my skills acquired during my studies and, while interesting, did little to help me grow my skills and capabilities.
I have a lot of down time and feel my technical skills are not being utilized effectively. This seems to be the consensus with other graduates

Energy & Utilities
Urban Utilities, a statutory authority, delivers retail water supply & wastewater services in Queensland.
The people at UU are very friendly and happy to help.
The support they have given us Graduates. They really care about us and are investing a lot into making sure we not only succeed, but also have a positive experience.
Urban Utilities is extremely flexible with ways of working...there is a great culture here that emphasizes work/life balance.
The interviews and assessments were very casual, friendly and unstructured yet professional. I felt equal opportunity to showcase my strength while also being relaxed and showing personality.
The company also heavily prioritises internal job applications before going out to market externally. The opportunity to build rapport and showcase your skills before applying for a job gives me extreme confidence and comfort in being able to move up along the ranks.
There’s opportunity for our corporate and operational functions to collaborate more.
A lot of people to go through approval when it comes to new projects/work. A bit of a slower turnaround on things.
The rotation-based grad program is an excellent, structured way to experience different parts of the business but within the individual rotations there is no set structure, so the experience can vary significantly.
Some teams can be quite closed off and only function within their space.
Lack of organisation across multiple business areas and systemic inaction.
