8.7
8.7 rating for Diversity, based on 12 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
Good parental leave policy although I haven't investigated the specifics of it. Operationally, in the field and site teams, quite male dominated, reasonably balanced up to the mid-high corporate level and male dominated again in upper management, although this doesn't feel by design. Supportive workplace for the LGBTQIA+ community but there's a lack of representation in management and this is the same for cultural minorities. The business is behind in disability and neurodiversity support and visibility but there is a disability action plan currently being implemented.

Urban Utilities has some great groups that address diversity in the workplace, such as our RAP and LGBTIQA+ groups, as well as focusing on women in STEM. There is great focus on constantly improving how the workplace can be a more open and inclusive space.

The commitment looks really good on paper and I can see the push from employees as well. I would like to see the diversity reflected in our work force, especially with POC, LGBTQIA+ and people with disabilities. I would also like to see a push for more young people in management positions. Our workforce will hit a cliff in 10-15 years time where a lot of our knowledge and personnel will retire. In house child care or child care partnership/discount would be an incredible initiative.

Clearly committed to D&I. Parental leave is equitable, there are Employee Resource Groups for Reconciliation, Disability and Pride. More progress coming in this space which is great to see.

Coincidentally we have a lunch for International Woman's Day today and usually will hold an event for different causes to raise funds or awareness. I have never been or seen any form of discrimination while working here.

Very open to diversity, from LGBTQ to indigenous, to making the business as inclusive as it can be. The business looks after it's employees through things like maternity leave etc and do everything to accommodate where possible.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
I'm not entirely sure how we attract applicants for less privileged backgrounds however I know it wouldn't be an issue.
