The history of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise is intertwined with the history of Silicon Valley—a fertile stretch of land north of San Jose, California. Today the area is known worldwide as a center for innovation, where companies have changed the world through technological advances. But when Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard met in the 1930s at Stanford University, the valley was largely agricultural, with orchards and farms dotting the hills. Bill and Dave’s success transformed the landscape and the culture of the area, so much so that the small garage on Addison Avenue in Palo Alto where the two first cemented their partnership has been designated a historical landmark, the “Birthplace of Silicon Valley.”
At HPE, we know that our greatest strengths come from the people who make up our team. So for us, inclusion and diversity are ingrained in who we are today because we know it’s what will get us to tomorrow. But our work is far from over. We continuously push for better.
We empower our team members to make an impact on our business and in the world. We foster an unconditionally inclusive culture, and in return ask that our people contribute all their differing perspectives, ideas, and experiences for one common purpose: to advance the way people live and work.
Inclusion and job performance go hand in hand: when people feel they belong in our community, the work they do is even better. It’s that simple. The broader the set of skills and perspectives we can draw on, the greater the chance of elevating our relevancy and achieving breakthroughs—like developing new products and services, exploring new markets, or finding new ways to help existing ones. Our customers are diverse, our teams should be too.
We give the most to our customers by bringing our best selves to work each day. That’s where our full power lies. Our competitive advantage comes from truly understanding them, having industry expertise, and giving them winning ideas by problem-solving together. We succeed when we innovate for our customers—which takes listening, empathy, and understanding. So we create that same environment for our teams.
A team made up of individuals with different outlooks, backgrounds and experiences give us access to a whole new way of looking at the world. Seeing things through different lenses is the lifeblood of our creativity. Delivering unique, open, and intelligent technology solutions are the result of an inclusive and diverse workplace—one that values your abilities over your limitations and listens openly to what you have to say.

We're committed to conducting business in a manner that delivers leading environmental, health, and safety performance while minimizing our impact on the planet. In 2018, HPE became one of the first IT companies to align its external reporting with recommendations set forth by the G20 Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to better understand the environmental and financial opportunities of enhancing our current climate strategies and how resilient these strategies are over the short, medium, and long term.
HPE’s company-wide environmental policies help guide our business decisions to ensure that we maintain a resilient operation while minimizing our impact on the planet.
